Hanging Christmas tree falls and injures Singaporean man [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: A Singaporean's Christmas celebration became an unfortunate experience when a decorative Christmas tree hanging from a shopping mall ceiling, here, fell on him and injured his head.

The victim's wife, Aileen Tan, 39, said the incident happened when her husband was taking a photograph of her and their child near where it fell.

"My husband (Julius Lee, 44) was standing outside the merry-go-round to take our picture, when suddenly a Christmas tree fell on him.

"We were surprised and didn't expect it at all. It happened so fast.

"Thankfully my child was with me. My child would've been hit by the Christmas tree if she was in the stroller," she told Harian Metro.

She added that her husband's head was swollen and he was then brought to the clinic by the mall's management.

Tan said her husband, her three-year-old daughter and herself were in the city since Wednesday to celebrate Christmas.

"We came to celebrate Christmas. We planned to stroll in the mall, but something else happened," she said.

During the incident, the visitors in the mall were also startled and tried to help the victim before mall security arrived.

The mall management immediately removed the fallen Christmas tree, and visitors continued taking pictures with the decoration.
