Pavilion KL apologises for Christmas tree mishap, carries out checks on all festive decor

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping mall's management will conduct a thorough check on all decorations to ensure their safety and integrity.

This comes after a decorative Christmas tree hanging from the shopping mall's ceiling, fell and injured a Singaporean man.

"We express regret over the incident that took place at noon today in which a Christmas tree branch fell and made contact with a shopper.

"Our medical and safety team promptly responded, accompanying the shopper to the nearest clinic for immediate medical attention," it said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

It said the shopper had a minor graze and appreciated the prompt action from the management.

It said it was in communication with him and his family to ensure his well-being.

Pavilion KL said the Christmas tree area was immediately cordoned off for the safety of all shoppers.

"A thorough check will be conducted on all decorations to ensure their safety and integrity.

"Rest assured Pavilion KL will continue to take all precautionary measures to ensure shoppers enjoy the year-end festivity with peace of mind as safety and security remain our utmost priority."
