Ex jounalist, novelist Saleha Abdul Rashid dies at 86

KUALA LUMPUR: Former journalist and novelist Datin Saleha Abdul Rashid, also known as Salmi Manja, died in her home in Subang Jaya, this afternoon.

She was 86.

Saleha was also the wife of National Laureate Datuk Seri A. Samad Said.

Their son, Helmy Samad, said his mother died of old age.

He said his mother's remains would be brought to the Masjid Al Irsyad for prayers tonight.

She will be buried at the USJ2 Muslim cemetery after Isyak prayers.

Saleha leaves behind four children and 11 grandchildren.

Saleha, a former journalist, was also a prolific author who penned various short stories and novels.

Among her best known works was 'Hari Mana Bulan Mana', published in 1960.

She was also known for championing social justice and women's rights.
