Floods in east coast states show signs of improvement, says Minister Nga

SERDANG: The flood situation in three east coast states are showing improvements, said the Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He said based on information from the Fire and Rescue Department, there were 15,897 victims in 66 temporary relief centres in Kelantan, followed by about 8,300 people in Terengganu and 800 victims in Pahang.

"The Fire and Rescue Department has mobilised their emergency services team including the northeast monsoon Red Team," he said in a press conference after visiting the Pasar Bazar Rakyat Seri Kembangan here, today.

Nga also advised parents not to allow their children to play in floodwaters as it contained dangerous bacteria.

"Do not let your children play in these waters because it is risky for their safety and their health.

"This message is very important as a precautionary measure apart from ensuring the safety of flood victims."
