Parking in Kuantan goes fully digital from April 1

KUANTAN: The Kuantan City Council will implement a fully digital parking payment system beginning April, bringing an end to the decade-long scratch-and-display parking coupons.

Its corporate and public communications section head Norkamawati Kamal said the use of the scratch card for parking coupons would end on March 31.

"Motorists can download the Pahang Go mobile application and make their payments online. Users will be notified just before the parking time expires and can continue adding more time by making the required payment.

"Those who do not have a smartphone or parking applications, can make payments at the autopay parking terminals by keying in their vehicle registration details. The blue parking terminals can be found at most areas in the state capital," she said when contacted.

It is learnt that the digital parking system was to go live on Jan 1 but was delayed to allow individuals who had previously acquired scratch-and-display parking coupons to use them until March 31.

Meanwhile, Norkamawati advised those with outstanding MBK traffic compounds to take advantage of the discounts on payments offered until March 31 in conjunction with Kuantan's third anniversary as a city.

"All traffic compounds issued before Aug 1 this year are entitled for the special discounts except for those with court notices. Special discount rates are offered as low as RM5 so motorists are advised to pay up their compounds.

"Payments can be made through the Pahang Go application, at ebayar.mbk.gov.my or physically visit the MBK parking booths, MPK complex or the Pahang UTC (Urban Transformation Centre)," she said.

It was reported in 2020 that motorists owe the MBK about RM10.3 million in unpaid traffic compounds.

The Pahang Go app can be downloaded from Google PlayStore and App store.
