Four men injured as fire razes transformer room in Sungai Way

KUALA LUMPUR: Four men were reportedly injured when fire broke out at a transformer room in the Sungai Way Free Trade Zone in Petaling Jaya, this evening.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail, said the victims were all Malaysians.

They were rushed to the Shah Alam Hospital for treatment.

They victims were Muhammad Adham Nor Zali, 22; Zaiful Amrun Mohd Zahar, 52; Nik Hafzan Ali, 34, and Muhd Fauzi Abdul Rahim, 37.

"When firemen reached the location at 6.07pm, the fire had already spread to the structure of the building next door.

"However, it was brought under control around 45 minutes later by the 24-strong team from the Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya stations," he told Bernama.

He said the fire destroyed the entire transformer room, measuring 37 sq m.

Petaling Jaya police chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, said the four victims were in stable condition and sustained burns to their bodies. — BERNAMA
