Driver survives plunge from office building

SHAH ALAM: A man survived with injuries when the car he was driving fell from the third floor of an office building in Setia Alam early this morning.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the traffic investigation and enforcement division received the report on the incident at 1.06am.

"Preliminary investigations found that the 41-year-old man had lost control of the BMW car, before hitting into a Perodua Myvi and Proton persona parked on the third floor.

"The victim's car then rammed into a pillar in the parking lot before falling.

"The driver was hurt and brought to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) in Klang for treatment," he said in a statement today.

He said the cause of the accident was still being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a team of personnel from the Kapar Fire and Rescue station was deployed to the scene upon receiving a call at 11.30pm.

"As soon as the team arrived at the location, it was found that the car driven by a man had fallen from the carpark at the office tower.

"However, the victim was successfully extricated and sent to the hospital by the members of the public before the firefighters arrived," he added.
