PM Anwar among Asean leaders at Brunei prince's wedding

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, graced the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana at Istana Nurul Iman today for the Brunei Royal wedding ceremony.

The couple received an exclusive invitation from Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Consort Pengiran Anak Saleha to witness the union of their son Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah and Dayang Anisha Rosnah.

"Prayers are extended for the blessing and grace of Allah SWT upon this marriage," he said in a statement on his Facebook page today.

Anwar said distinguished leaders from Asean nations added a diplomatic flair to the event, with notable attendees including Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

He also expressed his gratitude for the warm invitation and extended heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds.

Earlier today, it was reported that the royal wedding reception of Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah and his wife, Dayang Anisha Rosnah, took place at Istana Nurul Iman, at Bandar Seri Bagawan.

It was attended by royal guests, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, together with the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

Prince Mateen and Dayang Anisha tied the knot at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque last Thursday (Jan 11).

Mateen is the 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah—the world's longest-reigning monarch and once the world's richest man.
