Trailer crashes into police roadblock; disabled couple on motorcycle injured

KUALA LUMPUR: A trailer crashed into a police roadblock, injuring two civilians at Persiaran Jubli Perak yesterday.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the roadblock was set up from 10pm by a team from the Jelutong police station.

He said when the collision occurred, police were inspecting a green Honda RSX motorcycle ridden by a Malay couple in their 40s, both persons with disabilities (PwD).

"They sustained injuries to their legs, waist, and neck due to the impact.

Both victims are currently receiving treatment at Shah Alam Hospital.

"The suspect, in this case, is a 31-year-old Malay male driving a MAN TGS trailer, travelling from Klang Port to Batu 3 Shah Alam.

"The suspect has no previous records, and the urine test yielded negative results. The arrest of the suspect has been made, and he will be remanded on Jan 18 at 10.00am in Shah Alam Court," he said in a statement.

He said the investigation is conducted under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 26(2) of the Police Act 1967.

Additionally, the investigation is carried out under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
