Agong holds last pre-cabinet meeting with PM

KUALA LUMPUR: The king held his last weekly pre-cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Negara here today ahead of the conclusion of his term as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"Having graced 160 pre-cabinet meetings including today's session since ascending to the throne as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, His Majesty has actively engaged with four prime ministers.

"The first pre-cabinet meeting was held on Feb 13, 2019.

"The pre-cabinet meeting is one of the weekly or main routine activities of His Majesty to discuss and exchange views with the prime minister regarding government affairs and related issues," said Istana Negara on Facebook.

Also present during today's meeting was Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

His Majesty was elected as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong by the Malay Rulers at the 251st (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara on Jan 24, 2019, following the unprecedented resignation of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 6, 2019.
