Major education reform: Ministry announces plans to standardise preschool curriculum

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry is expected to unveil the mechanisms and timeline on the streamlining and standardisation of the curriculum soon.

Its minister Fadhlina Sidek in a statement however did not explicitly identify the timeline for the implementation of the transition.

She nevertheless stressed that such education reform is highly significant in ensuring access, quality education, and early intervention to address shortcomings at the preschool level.

"It is in line with the education reform agenda led by the ministry, particularly in strengthening the national education system.

"Following this, prompt actions have been taken with the involvement of all department heads and divisions in the post-cabinet meeting of the ministry today.

"The mechanisms and timeline for the transition of this new structure will be detailed in the near future, together with the relevant ministries and stakeholders in early childhood education institutions," she said.

Earlier, the unity government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said the pre-school curriculum will be streamlined and standardised under the Education Ministry soon.

He said this matter was discussed and agreed during the cabinet meeting earlier.
