Distribution of Early Schooling Aid must be made without deductions - MOE

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry (MOE) today clarified that the disbursement of Early Schooling Aid (BAP), totalling RM150 for each student, must be carried out without any deductions.

In a statement, the ministry expressed concern about several complaints received regarding the allocation of BAP to students.

According to MOE, schools are required to adhere to all guidelines related to the implementation of BAP for students.

"The BAP, amounting to RM150 for each student, is implemented with the purpose of easing the back-to-school expenses borne by parents or guardians at the beginning of the year," it said.

It added that the distribution of the aid is carried out through schools, either credited directly to students' accounts or provided in cash.

Recent media reports have highlighted claims that parents only received RM50 out of the total allocated RM150 for BAP.

Earlier, the MOE announced that the government has allocated RM788.13 million through the Budget 2024 specifically for BAP, which will benefit over 5.25 million students.

Any inquiries or complaints regarding the distribution of BAP can be made through the MOE's Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA). -- BERNAMA
