Almost 300 e-sport enthusiasts enter carnival competition

KUCHING: The warm response from e-sport enthusiasts at the Karnival Jom Heboh (KJH) Segulai Sejalai Sarawak has become the standard when hosting similar competitions.

The carnival's Jom e-Sport project manager, Mohd Aiman Nulhaq, said this was the first time the event had been featured at the carnival.

He said nearly 300 e-sport enthusiasts from 40 teams took up the challenge at the Jom e-Sport Championship.

"For this competition, we held a Mobile Legends game and the response from Sarawak's e-sports fans was beyond expectations.

"This encourages us to look into continuing it in other KJH locations," he said.

Aiman said a total cash prize of RM5,000 awaited the winner at the inaugural edition of the Jom e-Sport Championship.

"The qualifying round of this competition was held online last week. Last night, the quarter-final and semi-final took place and the climax is tonight," he said.
