JOHOR BARU: Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah has officially departed for Kuala Lumpur today.
Her departure follows the appointment of Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term starting this Wednesday, at which time the royal couple will begin residing at Istana Negara.
Accompanying her was Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj Sultan Ibrahim.
Earlier, her arrival at the Johor Royal Hangar at Senai International Airport was welcomed by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Sultan Ibrahim will depart for Istana Negara for the installation ceremony and oath of office signing as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at 8am this Wednesday.
