Covid-positive SPM candidates to take exam in isolation rooms [NSTTV]

KUALA NERUS: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates (SPM) who test positive for Covid-19 will be placed in an isolation room to prevent the spread of the infection.

Terengganu State Education Department director Jelani Sulong said that this is to ensure that all candidates sitting for SPM this year are safe and comfortable.

He added that candidates who test positive for Covid-19 will sit for the second and third session examinations, but all candidates must sit for SPM simultaneously this year.

"If they have Covid-19, they still need to attend, and we will place them in an isolation room with examination invigilators to ensure they can answer the exam comfortably. This applies not only to positive candidates but to all other SPM candidates, and so far, there have been no positives.

"God willing, we hope that no one will be infected during this period," he said.

He said this while inspecting the first day of the SPM exams at SMK Sains Sultan Mahmud in Kuala Nerus today.

Jelani said that so far, no candidates have taken exams in hospitals throughout Terengganu.

"So far, none, but we are prepared in case there are any, but we hope it won't happen," he said.

This year, a total of 18,494 candidates, including 105 special needs candidates, are taking the SPM examination at 176 examination centres throughout Terengganu starting this morning.
