Kedah ready to cooperate with federal government on Padu

ALOR STAR: The Kedah government is ready to cooperate with the federal government on the establishment of the national Central Database System (Padu) launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the state government is ready to feed whatever information to the federal agencies should the need arises.

"We have no problem to work with any federal agency. If the federal government needs it, we will feed whatever information required," he told a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman here today.

Today, Anwar called on Malaysians aged 18 and above to register and update their information on Padu website to address leakages in the allocation of government expenditures and subsidies.

He was reported as saying that Padu was established to ensure that only eligible individuals would benefit from subsidies and other forms of government assistance.

Meanwhile, Sanusi said the state executive council has approved the setting up of a special committee on the 'The Greater Kedah' initiatives.

He said the committee, spearheaded by the state Industry and Investment Committee chairman Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah will compile data on progress made by the state government and state agencies.

"The special committee will compile the annual and quarterly data to update the public from time to time on the progress of all initiatives under The Greater Kedah.

"The committee will also comprise of senior officers and experts from various fields, who will analyse data on main sectors under the Greater Kedah initiative," he said.
