IPOH: After a year in office, the state-led unity government will hold its first convention on Jan 28.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the convention would gather all state party component leaders at the Casuarina Hotel in Meru here.
"I am not so sure if Perak is the first state to hold such a convention. This is a state unity government convention so we will invite all relevant parties.
"After a year of establishment, this convention will look back at our strengths and weaknesses.
"And of course, we need to do some projection so that we will be a better state government than the year before," he told reporters after attending Meet the Customers Day at Stadium Indera Mulia here today.
Saarani, who is also Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said that he would be delivering his keynote address and it would be debated by coalition component members.
On Nov 21, 2022, the Kota Tampan assemblyman was re-appointed as Perak Menteri Besar following the state election held concurrently with the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.
Saarani took the oath of office before the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, at 5.40pm at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
On Nov 22, 2022, a total of 10 Perak State Legislative Assembly members took their oaths before Sultan Nazrin as members of the Perak State Executive Council (exco).
PH, who had 24 seats, and BN, with nine seats secured in GE15, had agreed to cooperate to form the state government, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) obtained 26 seats.
