"I will no longer grant any audiences starting today," decreed Sultan Ibrahim

JOHOR BARU: Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, has decreed that he will no longer grant any audiences starting today until Jan 31.

The ruler will not accept any more appointments except for events that have been fixed prior and weekly audiences with the menteri besar and state government representatives.

"From today onwards, until I take my oath as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I will not be accepting any more requests for an audience with me.

"During this time, I wish to spend quality time with my family before undertaking this enormous responsibility and trust," said a post on his official Facebook page.

It was reported that Sultan Ibrahim had been elected as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term, effective Jan 31 this year.

Sultan Ibrahim will replace Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah whose reign will end on Jan 30.
