'Anwar Ibrahim: Tenacious in Dissent, Hopeful in Power' book launched

KUALA LUMPUR: The newly-launched book 'Anwar Ibrahim: Tenacious in Dissent, Hopeful in Power', provides readers an insight to the political journey of Malaysia's 10th prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Written by Prof Dr Khoo Boo Teik, it chronicles Anwar's perseverance and his political journey.

"This book analyses Anwar's 50 over years of fight as a Malay nationalist student, Muslim activist, rising star in the government, the chosen successor to the prime minister post, persecuted reformist and an opposition leader who rose through difficulties and challenges," said the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim) in a statement.

Present at the launch held in Petaling Jaya yesterday were Abim president Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin, Khazanah Research Institute research senior adviser Prof Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram, former health minister Dr Lee Boon Chye and Petaling Jaya member of parliament Lee Chean Chung.

The panellists touched on the transformation of the society, bringing the audience through Malaysia's history, biography and complex politics.
