Wan Ahmad Dahlan appointed as PSD director-general

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister Department's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) director-general Datuk Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz has been appointed as the new Public Service Department (PSD) director-general effective tomorrow.

In a statement issued today, the appointment, effective tomorrow, was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

"(I am) pleased to announce that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has given the consent towards the appointment of Wan Ahmad Dahlan as PSD director-general effective tomorrow (Jan 9).

"With this, I am confident that with his experience and credibility, he can shoulder the responsibility entrusted to support efforts and ensure reforms in the public sector align with the Malaysia Madani aspirations," he said.

Zuki also expressed appreciation towards former PSD director-general Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamad for his services throughout his tenure at the department.

At the same time, Zuki added that Wan Ahmad Dahlan's appointment was based on his extensive experience in various fields, including policy, management and services, as well as his tenure as the ICU director-general.

"Apart from that, he has also served as the Home Ministry secretary-general, comptroller of the Istana Negara as well as PSD."

Wan Ahmad Dahlan, 58, has a Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Communication Science from Airlangga University, Surabaya, Indonesia. He also holds a Master's Degree inStrategic and Defense Studies from Universiti Malaya.

He has served in the public service sector for 29 years since Jan 1995 as the assistant secretary at the Transport Ministry.
