Kelantan Socso: 11,000 housewives contributed to SKSSR last year

TANAH MERAH: The Kelantan Social Security Organisation (Socso) has recorded 11,000 housewives who contributed under the Housewives' Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) last year.

Its director, Nora Yaacob said even though the total is far from the target of 16,000 housewives contributing to the scheme, Socso will continue to attempt in achieving it as contributors to the scheme receive many benefits, among them domestic disaster protection and disability protection.

"Only 1,300 housewives contributed voluntarily last year, the rest contributed through funding from the government.

"We recommend housewives in Kelantan to take up this opportunity because it has many benefits and the contribution rate is as low as RM120 per year," she said.

She told reporters after the SKSSR Charity Pilgrimage and Benefit Presentation programme to contributor Rosydiah Rashidi near Kampung Manal Setia, here today (January 10), which was also attended by Kelantan State Development deputy director, Dick Khuzariry Mohamad.

Commenting further, Nora said this year, Socso is also targeting 16,000 housewives to contribute under the scheme because the task of being a housewife is also given serious attention in obtaining proper protection.

Meanwhile, Dick Khuzariry said the state government will help Rosydiah's family as her husband, Huzaimi Zakaria works as a grass cutter, an odd job labourer.

"We will help to increase their income, even their 18-year-old son who had to stop studying because of poverty will get our attention," he said. — Bernama
