Bersatu tells MCMC to take down defamatory posts linking PN to bribery attempt

KAJANG: Bersatu has called for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take down social media posts containing false allegations linking Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders to an attempt to bribe the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to change the government.

Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said that this involves the tarnishing of the reputation and dignity of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"I want to ask the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and the Minister of Communication, Fahmi Fadzil... it has been 24 hours since reports regarding this issue were filed. Where is MCMC's action to take down all posts containing these false allegations?

"PN Youth will continue to defend the dignity and royal institutions from being manipulated by any desperate politicians at this time," he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference at the Kajang police headquarters earlier today.

Yesterday, the private secretary to the opposition leader, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, filed a police report following allegations of defamation linking PN leaders to an attempt to bribe the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, as circulated on social media.

Ahmad Ikhwan Fadhli reported that the report filed at the Dang Wangi police headquarters aims to clear Hamzah Zainudin's name, who is also PN secretary-general, linked to the allegations.
