[Updated] SPM history paper leaked

NILAI: The Education Ministry is currently investigating reports of the alleged leak of the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) history paper.

Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry will take necessary action if the allegations are proven true.

She said her ministry takes full responsibility for the matter and assures the integrity of public examinations.

"We will investigate and take full responsibility for this. At the same time, I emphasise that our integrity is high in controlling and ensuring that the issue of this examination is carefully guarded and well-controlled.

"SPM is a national examination, and in terms of integrity, security and control, it is very stringent.

"So, any allegations of leaks will be investigated," she said after attending the Negri Sembilan 'Hari Perpaduan Silang Budaya and Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP) distribution programme at SMK Nilai Impian here today.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, state Education and Human Capital Action Committee chairman Datuk Ismail Lasim, and Negri Sembilan Education Department director Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin.

Fadhlina further expressed hope that students taking the SPM would not be disturbed by the news, and focus on the remaining exam papers.

"The existing standard operating procedures (SOP) are sufficient to prevent issues of exam paper leaks," she said.

Meanwhile, she said RM788 million has been allocated for the distribution of BAP, benefiting over five million students, and is expected to be fully completed by Feb 10.

In Negri Sembilan, RM26,458,050 is allocated for BAP, benefiting 176,387 students in 478 schools.
