Pokok Sena Umno Youth leader lodges report against DAP's Tony Pua

ALOR STAR: An Umno Youth leader has lodged a report against former DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua over his remarks on the Pardons Board decision's to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's sentences.

Pokok Sena Umno Youth chief Mohd Farhan Ahmad said Pua's remarks had insulted the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who chaired the Federal Territories Pardons Board.

"Tony Pua indirectly questioned the decision of the Pardons Board chaired by His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong, as outlined in Article 42 of the Federal Constitution.

"He made several posts on Facebook with the intention of provoking Najib's loyal supporters, potentially causing heated controversy through his rude and disrespectful remarks.

"Therefore, we hope the authorities will carry out an immediate investigation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 to remove his disrespectful posts from Facebook," he told reporters after lodging the report at the Kota Star district police headquarters today.

Farhan also urged the police to investigate Pua under Section 499 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation.

"We are deeply disappointed with Tony Pua, who has a history of being involved in various defamation cases, including criminal defamation, yet continues to openly spread defamatory statements through posts and writings on social media platforms on this matter."

Farhan said the report was lodged not just to show Umno's solidarity in protesting against Pua, but also as a show of support for Najib by the Umno division and residents of Pokok Sena.

"DAP should consider expelling Pua from the party for his remarks, similar to actions taken by Umno against its former members."

On Saturday, Pua took to Facebook to criticise the Pardons Board's decision to reduce Najib's jail term and fine.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board reduced Najib's prison sentence from 12 to six years and the fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.

Najib was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million after being found guilty of abuse of power, breach of trust and money laundering involving RM42 million from SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd

Pua posted a series of cryptic messages on his Facebook account, including one that read, "I beg your pardon?"

In response, Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam called on the Home Ministry and police to take action against Pua under the Sedition Act for allegedly disrespecting the Pardons Boards's decision.

Lokman said Pua's statements insulted the former king and disrespected his decision.

On Sunday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that Pua will be summoned for questioning.
