Malaysia wins two silver medals at Culinary Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's national culinary team bagged two silver medals at the Culinary Olympics 2024 in the Restaurant of Nations and Chef's Table categories.

Competing under the banner of the Professional Culinary Association of Malaysia and supported by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), the team consisted of 16 chefs.

MPOC's chief executive officer Belvinder Sron praised the Malaysian team for their outstanding culinary skills honed through months of planning and training.

"Malaysia's national culinary team success has demonstrated its unparalleled culinary prowess. This comes with months of meticulous planning and rigorous training.

"We are also thrilled to collaborate with the Worldchefs Association and the PCA to showcase the benefits of Malaysian palm oil.

"Our participation in the Culinary Olympics 2024 underscores our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our efforts to promote informed consumer choices globally," she said in a statement today.

Alongside two other Malaysian palm oil manufacturers, Nonosugar Health Tech Sdn Bhd and Saha Asia Industries Sdn Bhd, MPOC showcased Malaysia's sustainable palm oil products at the Worldchefs Village during the Culinary Olympics 2024.

"Daily cooking demonstrations by Malaysian chefs from the Professional Culinaire Association not only highlighted the versatility of Malaysian palm oil products, but also showcased the rich culinary heritage of Malaysia on a global platform."

The Culinary Olympics 2024, held alongside Intergastra — Germany's premier trade fair for the hospitality and gastronomy industry — took place at the prestigious Messe Stuttgart.

With 1,500 exhibitors, the trade fair is Germany's largest event for the industry, attracting nearly 100,000 trade visitors biennially.

The Culinary Olympics welcomed 1,800 participants, including ten teams and 800 individual exhibitors from 67 countries.
