Cars parked on roadside of flaming Cheras flat got in the way of fire trucks [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Parked vehicles belonging to residents, on the roadside near the Sri Sabah flats, here in Cheras, had hindered the fire and rescue team from extinguishing the fire at Block 70 today.

The team had to request the assistance of a tow truck from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to remove the vehicles blocking the passage, thus allowing access for the fire trucks.

Based on preliminary information, the fire occurred at 9.30 pm last night (Feb 11), involving at least six housing units. Quick action by members of the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department successfully controlled the fire from spreading to other houses and floors.

A survey by Harian Metro at 11.30pm last night, found that the fire had been successfully extinguished, and overhaul work was underway.

It is understood that the fire did not involve any loss of life.
