Couple on scooter killed after colliding with four-wheel drive vehicle

HULU SELANGOR: A husband and wife died after their scooter collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle that stopped in the emergency lane at Kilometre 415.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), heading from Lembah Beringin to Bukit Tagar, here, today.

In the incident at around 11.05am today, both victims, aged 36 and 38, riding a Yamaha NMAX, were thrown off and hit by a car passing by the location.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said an investigation found that the husband and wife were travelling from Kamunting, Perak to Kuala Lumpur, believed to be returning from vacation.

Ahmad Faizal said the couple, who suffered head and body injuries, were confirmed dead at the scene.

According to him, the post-mortem process will be carried out at Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital.

"The police urge the public to provide information regarding this accident to assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," he said.
