Finance Ministry denies Nurul Izzah was paid RM35,000 as Laksana advisor

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has denied allegations that Nurul Izzah Anwar received payment following her appointment as an advisor to the National Economic and Strategic Coordination Agency (Laksana).

MoF, through a tweet on its X page, described the accusations against the PKR vice president, who is also the chairperson of the Leadership Council of the States of Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, as slander.

"The viral social media posts alleging that Nurul Izzah was paid as an advisor to Laksana are purely slanderous.

"The document circulating on social media claiming to be an agreement is an invalid draft offer.

"The valid agreement signed by Nurul Izzah is to provide advisory services to Laksana 'pro bono' or without financial compensation or any benefits, as informed to the public," it said today.

Previously, Nurul Izzah, who is also a former Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh, received posts on Facebook containing slanderous content about her.

The post claimed that she was appointed as an advisor to Laksana and received a salary of RM35,000 as well as being provided with two staff members with salaries ranging from RM5,000 to RM20,000.

Nurul Izzah lodged a police report following the statement.
