MyCare has sent nearly RM7 million in aid to Gaza since war began

BANGI: Non-governmental organisation Humanitarian Care Malaysia Bhd (MyCare) has sent nearly RM7 million in aid to Palestinians in Gaza since the war began on Oct 7.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Kamal Nasaruddin Mustapha, said MyCare was also drawing up plans for the long-term redevelopment of Gaza, which has been destroyed by the Israeli regime, under its Rebuild Gaza programme.

He said, about a month ago, he and MyCare chief executive Kamarul Zaman Shaharul Anwar had gone to Cairo, Egypt, for two weeks to monitor the process of sending aid to Gaza.

Dr Kamal said among the items which have been donated to Gazans were food, drinks, medicines and medical equipment, all sent through the Rafah border region.

"MyCare also purchased two ambulances and 500 tents in which Palestinians can take shelter as their homes have been destroyed by Israeli bombs," he said at a Hi Tea reception for its Rebuild Gaza programme.

Dr Kamal said the programme was also aimed at building awareness among Malaysians about how important it was to donate so that efforts to rebuild Gaza once the war ends can be successful.

"The long-term plan is for the programme to rebuild infrastructure (such as homes), the economy (agriculture), medical and rehabilitation facilities as well as the education system," he said.
