SPM students left critically injured after accident

KLUANG: Two Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students were critically injured in an accident, just minutes after they left the examination hall at SMK Kahang, here, on Saturday (Feb 17).

The students, who are both 18-year-old, were exiting the school compound and heading towards Jalan Batu Pahat -Mersing on a motorcycle when a motorist traveling in the opposite direction crashed into them.

Kluang police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Noh, said that Faiz Akmal Zarimi was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle, with Muhammad Adib Qayyum Mohd Heff'nie riding pillion.

Both suffered severe injuries and are being treatment at Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom's red zone.

The 53-year-old driver of the other vehicle escaped unhurt.

Bahrin said the students were heading out of the school at 1.53pm when the accident occurred.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for driving in a negligent manner.

Bahrin also advised motorists to be alert and cautious when on the road especially along roads where there are schools.
