Rubbish bin replacement scheduled for next month in KL and Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) will carry out a programme to replace rubbish bins in stages in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya starting in March.

Its director Ummi Kalthum Shuib in a statement today said the replacement programme would be carried out by Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) for bins that were supplied by the government in 2018 or previous years.

She added that the programme would also cover landed and high-rise residential areas as well as commercial properties within the solid waste collection service areas.

"Following this, a total of 113,245 units (of rubbish bins) in Kuala Lumpur and 5,060 units in Putrajaya will be replaced.

"The entire replacement of 118,305 units in both Federal Territories, with bin sizes of 120-litre mobile garbage bin (MGB) for landed property, 240-litre MGB for commercial premises, and 660-litre MGB for strata residential buildings," she said.

She added that the replacement of bins, however, had begun in two areas with 120-litre MGB, namely Bukit Damansara with 717 bins and Maluri (129 bins).

Meanwhile, she said that the replacement of bins would also be carried out for premises whose owners had lodged a report.

"Additionally, the replacement for missing bins can also be requested through the system.

"Premises owners, however, must file a police report on the missing bin first and submit the report to Alam Flora when they come to get a replacement (on the bins)."
