Taib's daughter mourns father's death, uploads blacked-out image on FB

KUALA LUMPUR: In a display of grief, Mukah member of Parliament Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib has uploaded blacked-out images on the profile picture and cover photo of her Facebook account.

Hanifah, who is also the Deputy Economy Minister, is the daughter of the late Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, who died earlier today.

The sombre situation caught the attention followers on her social media account since the last status updated on the platform is a posting written by her private secretary confirming the demise of Taib.

In separate social media posting, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli expressed his condolences to Hanifah and her family for Taib's death.

"I received the sad news over the demise of Tun Pehin Sri (Taib), who is the father of Deputy Economy Minister (Hanifah).

"May Allah forgives and blessed all the good deeds by Allahyarham (Taib). Place him among the rightheous," wrote Rafizi.

In the same posting, Rafizi said Hanifah is a person known for her high moral values and she is a humble person despite coming from an influential family.

"Her moral values are uplifting and delightful to all who deal with her, a sign of excellent moral upbringing by her late father and mother.

"I pray that Hanifah's affairs are made easy and that Allah SWT grants her and her family peace during this time of sorrow," Rafizi said.

It was reported that Taib died at the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur hospital (CVSKL) here today at 4.40am today. He was 87.
