Ipoh's Megoplex revival on the cards

IPOH: The Megoplex business complex, a once key business location in Ipoh on Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin, may soon see a revival, Ipoh Echo reported.

After being inactive for years, the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) has opened the door for potential operators by inviting qualified companies to submit proposals to bring the complex back to life.

The announcement offers a chance for businesses registered with the Finance Ministry and the Companies Commission of Malaysia to propose plans for the complex's operation. Interested companies have until March 18 to submit their proposals.

Opened in 1998, Megoplex has been a major site for Bumiputera traders, housing more than 200 businesses at its peak.

The complex was a bustling hub, largely due to its anchor tenant, Billion Supermarket, until its closure in 2016 led to a decline in footfall and eventually, the silence of the complex.
