Mosques under Jakim and Jawi to perform 'hajat' prayer for Muslims in Palestine tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA: Mosques under the supervision of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), namely, the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, the Putra Mosque and the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here, will hold special 'Hajat' prayer tomorrow for the well-being of Muslims in Palestine.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said mosques and surau in the Federal Territory under the supervision of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) were also instructed to do the same.

He said JPM Religious Affairs denounced and condemned the inhuman acts of the Zionists, who persistently launched airstrikes on the Palestinian population, particularly in Rafah which he described as barbaric and irresponsible acts.

"It is unfortunate that the airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, including children, as well as the destruction of homes and public facilities. This is particularly distressing as Muslims are nearing the onset of the holy month of Ramadan.

"The world must oppose the Israeli Zionists' threat to persist in attacking Gaza, Palestine, especially as Ramadan nears, by showing support and solidarity with the Palestinian people," he said in a statement today.
