Sabah welcomes initiatives from industry players to upskill state's youth

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is open to various initiative implementations by industry players that can help enhance the capabilities and skills of the youth in this state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

According to a report by Sabah First Info, Hajiji said corporations and non-governmental organisations need to work hand in hand with the government to create more employment opportunities, especially for the youth, in efforts to reduce the unemployment rate in Sabah.

He said this during the inauguration ceremony of the Launch of MBC Training and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd (Borneo Branch), here, yesterday.

Led by a Sabahan, MBC Training and Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd (Borneo Branch) has established a strategic collaboration with MBC Training and Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd to realise a partnership to expand the business of training services and consultancy in the security and defence industry sector in Sabah.

The main objective is to produce a professional workforce for the people of Sabah in the security and defence sector, as well as provide valuable skills to Sabah's youth, allowing them to seek opportunities in both industries.

Hajiji said collaborations between industries and private sector partnerships are encouraged and should be pursued.

"The state government is extremely supportive and receptive to any industry initiatives that can enhance the abilities and skills of our youth.

"This partnership is highly relevant as it offers numerous benefits, not only to the wellbeing of the state's residents but also contributes to the development of the industrial sector and the strengthening of Sabah's socio-economic fabric," he said.

He added that such collaborations are crucial in increasing the market-relevant skills among the youth.

"Initiatives like these are vital in supporting the state government's efforts to boost the employability of Sabah's youth," he added.
