BUKIT MERTAJAM: A man died after his car skidded and crashed into a road divider at Km141 of the North South Expressway near Juru here early this morning.
The victim, identified as R. Aravin, 26, died on the spot due to severe injuries.
A spokesman for the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call at 3.43am before a team was dispatched to the scene.
"The crash caused the Toyota Vios to be badly damaged and the victim was pinned in the driver's seat.
"Firefighters used special rescue tools to extricate the victim," the spokesman said today.
The victim's body has been sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post mortem.
