ALOR STAR: The child of former 15th General Election (GE15) independent candidate Sofan Feroza Md Yusof has been reported missing after she visited a playground in Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani here on Tuesday.
Sofan said that his daughter, Sofea Auni Adilah, 14, has been living with him in Alor Star, but went to visit his ex-wife, Hasmawati Derani, 46, in Sungai Petani during this school break.
"My ex-wife and I have been separated for some time, and Sofea wished to spend time with her mother during the school holidays.
"On the day she went missing, she told her grandmother that she was going to the playground nearby but did not return home afterward.
"My ex-wife and I have tried calling her mobile phone numerous times, but have not received any response. We have also reached out to her friends, but none of them are aware of her whereabouts.
"We are deeply concerned for Sofea's safety," he said.
Sofan said on the day of the incident, his daughter, the youngest of three siblings, was wearing a black jacket and trousers.
He urged anyone with information about his daughter to contact him at 019-5007303.
"A police report has been lodged at the Sungai Petani police station on Wednesday regarding my daughter's disappearance," he added.
Meanwhile, Kuala Muda police chief Zaidy Che Hassan confirmed that a missing person report has been lodged by the family.
