Fahmi told me he is not behind IJN post block, says Rafidah

KUALA LUMPUR: Former International Trade and Industry Rafidah Aziz said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had informed her that he did not issue any instructions to block one of her recent Facebook posts.

According to a news portal, Rafidah said his explanation came after she made a media statement about her social media being censored following a post about the treatment of government retirees at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

"He (Fahmi) said he was not involved in directing (Facebook) to block (posting)," she said in the online report.

She also accused the government of being "afraid" of its own shadow.

Rafidah's post on Facebook was on the alleged unfair discharge of government pensioners from IJN.

This issue has since been clarified by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad who said IJN did not turn down or reject retirees seeking treatment there.

Yesterday, it was reported that Fahmi said neither he nor his office had instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block the former minister's Facebook posts.

"I have informed Rafidah about this. (On the contrary, the action) is based on the community guidelines of the social media platform," he had said.
