LANGKAWI: King of Norway, King Harald V left Langkawi International Airport (LTAL) for his homeland today at 1.03pm aboard a Scandinavian Airlines flight.
The King was accompanied by the police and his entourage from the Sultanah Maliha Hospital at 12.25pm en route to LTAL.
The Scandinavian Airlines flight, which originated from Oslo Airport, touched down at LTAL on Friday, equipped with medical facilities.
Upon returning to Norway, King Harald V is scheduled to undergo additional treatment at Rikshospitalet, as announced in a statement on the official website www.royalcourt.no by the Norwegian royal family.
Throughout his two-week vacation, the King entrusted his royal duties to the Crown Prince, as mentioned in the statement.
On Saturday, King Harald V underwent a successful cardiac pacemaker implant procedure at Sultanah Maliha Hospital due to his weakened heart rate, as confirmed by his personal physician, Bjorn Bendz.
Bendz reportedly said that the pacemaker implant has enabled the King to travel home safely.
The procedure was performed after the King fell ill during his vacation in Malaysia, and he has been under treatment at the hospital, as reported by Bernama on Feb 28. -- Bernama
