27 rural transformation projects approved for Batu Danau constituency

BATU DANAU: The Batu Danau constituency is set to witness the implementation of 27 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang said these projects were extension of the development efforts carried out in the previous years, aimed at enhancing the rural infrastructure within the constituency.

Among the approved projects are the construction of concrete roads from the main road to residential areas, access roads to agricultural lands, roads to cemetery areas, and the construction of sports halls.

"The implementation of the RTP will be phased, starting from Phase 1 to completion.

"For instance, the construction of a hall in Long Napir is segmented into phases if the project cost exceeds RM200,000, due to additional expenses incurred through logging routes.

"This necessitates phased implementation to ensure financial adequacy. We hope to complete these projects within the year," Paulus said during the thanksgiving ceremony for the Family Day organised by the Community Leaders and Spouses of the Ukong Zone at the residence of Penghulu Ekit, Kampung Bukid Gudang, on March 3.

During the event, the Bisaya Community Leader in Sarawak, Temenggong Nicholas Buyok Pura, appealed to Paulus to elevate resolutions and proposals from the Bisaya Community Leaders' Council to higher authorities for consideration and approval.

These proposals include requests for an increase in Bisaya Community Leaders and the establishment of new villages, justified by the growing Bisaya population over time.

"We hope the achievements of distinguished Bisaya community figures will inspire the Bisaya people to continue progressing and serving with loyalty," he said.
