MARANG:There will be no festive bazaars on the night before Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Terengganu.
State Local Government and Housing Committee chairman Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah said local authorities have been informed about the move, which will facilitate cleaning work before the arrival of Aidilfitri.
Among the popular locations for the festive bazaars in Terenggany are Dataran Shahbandar, Batu Buruk, and the Drawbridge in Kuala Terengganu.
"The local authorities have informed bazaar organisers about the matter during a briefing held earlier today," he told a press conference after the Terengganu State Local Government and Housing Committee meeting at the Marang District Council here today (March 5).
He said the local authorities and the Terengganu Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will jointly implement Bazar Rahmah, initially focusing on four locations.
"The four Rahmah bazaars are in Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus; Sura Gate, Dungun; Hulu Terengganu, and Kampung Raja, Besut.
"However, the state government requests for the ministry to expand the Rahmah Bazaars to all districts.
"The aim is for each trader to offer a Rahmah menu priced below RM5," he said.
He said sales will be conducted using online methods such as QR codes, and each visitor will receive RM20 in their e-wallets to spend at the respective bazaars.
