Sarawak's Samalaju Industrial Park attracts RM111.73 bil in investments

BINTULU: Samalaju Industrial Park has drawn an impressive RM111.73 billion in investments since its inception, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said these investments led to the positive impact on the downstream industry and domestic economy, with a projected output of RM12.07 billion and employment for approximately 10,000 individuals.

"The potential is there, and we already have a list of companies set to invest in the park, amounting to RM15.66 billion across various stages, including approved and underway investments," he said during the 10th Anniversary Dinner of Sakura Ferroalloys in Bintulu on Tuesday.

Abang Johari further elaborated on additional projects poised to bolster the industry in Samalaju and mentioned the Bintulu-Samalaju gas pipeline project, spanning 70 kilometres, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

This initiative aims to enhance gas distribution to users in the Samalaju Industrial Park, including the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant currently under construction, which will improve gas supply and power generation in the area.
