'Bersatu never discussed Taylor Swift tour' [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has denied ever discussing the government's failure to secure Taylor Swift's highly anticipated Eras Tour in the country.

This denial came after Sasha Lyna Abdul Latiff, the party's deputy chairman of the legal and constitution bureau, earlier today demanded that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh provide an explanation for the missed economic opportunity.

Bersatu's youth chief and Machang member of parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said none of the party's members had ever discussed the matter.

He clarified that Sasha's views are her own and she is not authorised to issue views on behalf of the party.

"When did Bersatu ever discuss this? She is not a main leader of Bersatu to issue an official view of the party on this matter. Her view is her own and doesn't represent Bersatu's. None of our Bersatu MPs ever raised this matter," he said in his post.

Sasha had earlier claimed that the Malaysian government and Taylor Swift's concert promoter had communicated as early as 2022. Despite this, no deal was sealed, allowing neighboring Singapore to successfully secure the tour.

The Eras Tour is set to conclude in December and is projected to generate a staggering US$4.1 billion in revenue.
