Tengku Zafrul expected to file police report over scam video upon return from Australia

KUALA LUMPUR: Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz is expected to lodge a police report over a viral video which claims that he was involved in a scam, once he returns from Australia.

According to a news portal report, Tengku Zafrul says he had no knowledge of the allegations, or any wrongdoing alleged in the video.

Tengku Zafrul is currently accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his official visit to Australia.

In the video, which has since gone viral, an individual claimed that he was asked to impersonate a foreign chief executive officer during an event which Tengku Zafrul also attended. The individual goes on to allege that the fake event was done to secure some RM36 million in funding.

According to the report, Tengku Zafrul said he attended the event in good faith and he and his team did not have any prior knowledge of the allegations raised in the video.

He added that his team has started an internal investigation into the matter and that he will lodge a police report upon his return to Malaysia.

He also called upon anyone who has any knowledge of any wrongdoing to come forward and lodge a report on the matter.
