TikTok account of individual spreading Ahmadi teachings no longer accessible, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: The account of an individual who uploaded content of the deviant teachings and beliefs of the "Ahmadi Religion of Light and Peace" is no longer accessible.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the matter had also been discussed with the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Moh Na'im Mokhtar.

"I have checked the account this morning and it (the account) is no longer accessible.

"The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) previously informed that they have received views and reports from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) on the deviant teachings.

"Several actions have been taken, including investigations to ensure that the evidence will not be affected.

"(And) after some actions were taken, MCMC was also given the go-ahead from the ministry (for the next course of action) and the account is no longer accessible," he said when met by reporters at the Back To School Programme organised by MCMC and Shopee at the Lembah Pantai constituency here today.

Previously, Na'im said that the teachings of the Ahmadi were against Islamic law. He also said he would ensure that social media contents related to these teachings were immediately removed to safeguard the community from their influence.

He also said a discussion would be held with MCMC and the police on the removal of content related to Ahmadi teachings in Malaysian social media.

The concern was sparked following the emergence of a TikTok account, allegedly belonging to the "bishop" of the Ahmadi Religion of Light and Peace.

The account also garnered 30,000 followers during live broadcasts on the TikTok platform.
