KOTA TINGGI: A joss stick factory in Kampung Lukut Cina near here was razed to the ground in a fire yesterday.
The blaze at Jin Quan Fa (M) Sdn Bhd broke out at 11.50pm, destroying the building and equipment, as well as damaging a Nissan XTrail parked in the compound. No casualties were reported
Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Shawaluddin Ami Nordin, said 70 per cent of single-storey building was destroyed despite 24 firefighters deployed to the scene.
"The fire spread rapidly, believed due to the combustible materials stored in the factory," he said, adding that firefighters took almost two hours to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire and damage incurred are being investigated.
