Mydin estimates RM50 million in losses after fire at Manjoi outlet

IPOH: The head of the Mydin chain of hypermarkets estimates the company has suffered some RM50 million in losses after a fire at its Manjoi outlet last night.

Mydin managing director Datuk Dr Ameer Ali Mydin said his estimation is based on the value of the building and goods damaged by the fire.

"We are saddened by the damage caused to the structure of the building and its roof," he said according to a Sinar Harian Report.

"If we have to demolish this building and build a new one, we will do it. InsyaAllah (God willing), money and a building can be found," he said during a visit to the site.

He added the total losses can only be determined after inspections by the Fire and Rescue Department, engineers, adjusters, and others.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the outlet will be closed until further notice, and that Mydin customers can visit the other outlets in Meru Raya and Gopeng.
