DAP supports PM's bold move in highlighting world community's frustration over atrocity in Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP fully supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for expressing the world community's disappointment over the actions of Israel and its allies against the Palestinians.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the prime minister's bold move has received continuous commendation globally.

"As at the start of Ramadan, more than 30,000 lives have been lost since Israel began its latest siege of Gaza.

"The praise Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received for his frank assessment of the Palestine situation during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is reflective of the growing international frustration towards Israel and its allies," he said in a statement today.

Loke said attempts to defend the atrocities committed by the Israeli forces against the Palestinians was a continuation of the violence against the people since the Nakba in 1948.

He also described the prime minister as being the global community's voice of reason, and it was important for Malaysia and the rest of the world to stand in solidarity with Palestine.

"The DAP supports the prime minister's courage in being the international community's voice of reason and conscience.

"While we stand in solidarity with Palestine, the catastrophe in Gaza can only be averted through an international solution."

He said Malaysians have a moral obligation to stand with the prime minister in seeking to end the sufferings of Palestinians at the global stage.
