Bus driver killed in tragic collision on Plus Expressway near Gurun

YAN: An express bus driver was burnt to death while two passengers suffered minor injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire after crashing into a trailer at KM75.2 of the Plus Expressway near Gurun, about 4am today.

The 42-year-old bus driver was found pinned to his seat, his remains charred, after firefighters managed to bring the flames under control.

Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Fauzi Razali said a male passenger and a female passenger sustained minor injuries.

He said the bus co-driver, two other passengers and the 32-year-old lorry driver were unhurt.

"Firefighters from Guar Chempedak and Aman Jaya were deployed to the scene upon receiving a distress call about 4.02am.

"The bus was already engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived at the location, likely due to the impact of the collision," he said in a statement.
