Political party youth leader to be charged for sexual assault

MERSING: A youth leader of a political party in Johor is set to be charged with sexual assault after five police reports were lodged by six alleged victims.

"Two police reports were made by two victims yesterday, we have received three more reports from four people," said Mersing district police chief Superintendent Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani.

He said the investigation papers were referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office today and police expect to charge the suspect at the Kota Tinggi Court tomorrow.

Yesterday, Abdul Razak was reported saying that the suspect, a local man in his 30s had been remanded until tomorrow.

He said the case was being investigated according to Section 377C of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

This came after a report on the arrest of the suspect in Johor went viral. The suspect is accused of sexually assaulting several people aged between 15 and 21.

It is understood that the victims claimed to have been approached by the suspect sometime between 2017 and last February.
